Success Story
Khude Bormi's village is located in Gazipur district. The literacy rate at this location is too low. Shahiur is living in this village. She is a house wife. Her husband’s name is Obaidullah. They have one son and a daughter. Her husband is a daily laborer. His income is very low. It is also difficult for him to get regular work. It is very hard for her husband to maintain this family with this poor income. Shahinur wanted to help her husband but she could not find anyway to practically support her husband. Shahinur is a member of our trust and savings group. She has received sewing training from our TTIS project. By giving importance to her sewing skill TTIS project gave her loan of taka 20,000 ($300) to buy a sewing machine and to buy cloth to start a tailoring business.

Khude Borni SewingHer tailoring business was running well. She was able to support her family with her husband. Through monthly installment she has repaid the loan that she received from Symbiosis. In order to expand her business she again took a loan of taka 10,000 ($150) from symbiosis. Now she is self sufficient. She doesn’t need to depend on her husband. She is now leading a happy life with her other family members. Also she is sending her children to the school. She is thankful to symbiosis for the support.

Analysis: She was able to bring a significant change to her life because of a preparedness to work hard and follow advice. She is another example of someone who with appropriate assistance in the form of training and responsible financial intervention can change her life and that of her family.
